QUALIFIES FOR PIAA GIRLS' GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
Monday and Tuesday, October 22 and 23, 2018
Heritage Hills GC, York PA
 
Congratulations to Central Valley senior Kiaira Porter who again qualified for the PIAA Girls' Golf Championships at Heritage Hills GC in York, PA on Monday and Tuesday, October 22nd and 23rd.  Kiaira shot an 88 in the WPIAL Individual Finals at Diamond Run Golf Course on October 3rd.  She will be accompanied to the state tournament by Head Coach Craig Morris and Assistant Coach David Bell. 
 
Kiaira and her Central Valley teammates will be trying to win another WPIAL Chamipionship trophy and qualify for the PIAA Team Championships on Thursday, October 11th, when they travel to Cedarbrook Golf Course to face Greensburg Central Catholic, Elizabeth Forward and Sewickley Academy.  Best of luck Lady Warriors!
 
8TH ANNUAL WARRIORS IN PINK
 
Central Valley will hold their 8th annual Warriors in Pink observance during the varsity football game versus Aliquippa on Friday, October 26th. Thpink ribbon is an international symbol of breast cancer and Warriors in Pink is CV juniors Lauren Kostosky, Liz Brobeck, Maddie Schultz and Diana Huber's senior projects, to bring about breast cancer awareness.

As part of the event, Warriors in Pink teeshirts are being sold, as well as pink luminaries, which will be lit in honor or memory of a loved one diagnosed with the disease. During halftime Lauren, Liz, Maddie and Diana will be joined on the field by breast cancer survivors from the area. Last year Warriors In Pink raised $5,000
which was donated to the Susan G.Komen Foundation of Pittsburgh.

Tyler Martin ~ Positive Athlete Pittsburgh 2018-2019 Nominee
 
        Senior Tyler Martin 
 
Congratulations to Central Valley senior Tyler Martin for being an official nominee in this year's Positive Athlete Pittsburgh program.  He is now eligible to win one of the Positive High School Athlete awards and scholarships developed for exceptional student-athletes in Western Pennsylvania.  Tyler is a four year member of the varsity football team, where he plays linebacker and tight end. As a captain this season, Tyler encourages the younger players to never give up.  He is also a member of the National Honor Society and is an Eagle Scout.  He has been in Cub/Boys Scouts for 12 years and has volunteered countless hours doing community service.
 
After graduation, Tyler plans to attend Youngstown State University and major in Geology. Tyler is the son of Lance and Jeannie Martin of Center Township. Best of luck Tyler in the Positive Athlete Pittsburgh competition; winners will be announced in May 2019.
