The Central Valley School District is currently accepting applications for Head Varsity Baseball Coach. Varsity coaching experience is preferred. The head coach will be responsible for assembling his/her coaching staff, coordinating the Varsity, JV and Middle School programswith the athletic office, as well as the off-season programs in accordance with WPIAL/PIAA regulations. Salary is according to the current contract. Please submit a letter of interest, resume, and all clearances (Act 34, 114, and 151) to:

Jackie Smith - Named 2017-2018 Western PA Positive High School Athlete

Congratulations to Central Valley senior Jackie Smith, who was one of 30 student-athletes who were honored at the 2017-2018 Western Pennsylvania Positive High School Athlete Awards Ceremony held Tuesday evening at The Sen. John Heinz History Center and Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum. Jackie, who won for Girls Golf, was presented a $500 scholarship by former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward. More than 1,000 nominations from coaches, principals, athletic directors, teachers and parents were submitted from 150 Western Pennsylvania schools. In addition to accomplishments on the field, each of the nominated Positive Athletes embodied off-field characteristics such as optimistic attitude, encouraging teammate, the ability to admit imperfections, giving 100 percent in all occasions and putting team first.

At Central Valley, Jackie was a four year member of the Warriors girls soccer and track teams and a 2 year member of girls golf, including the 2016 PIAA state championship team.  She will be attending California University of Pennsylvania in the fall, where she plans to study elementary education and play golf.  She is the daughter of Michael and Jody Smith of Center Township.
 
2018 ATHLETIC PHYSICALS

       Sports Physicals for the 2018-2019 Seasons

 

The Central Valley School District has set their two athletic physical dates for any student-athlete planning on participating in any of our school affiliated sports for the 2018-2019 school year.  The first date is Monday June 11, 2018 and the second date is Monday, July 30, 2018. Both will be held at Jamie’s Physical Therapy 3468 Brodhead Road, (Betters Plaza) Center Township, 6:00 -800 pm.  We ask that you come during the times listed below:  This schedule reflects the grade that you will enter next school year.

  • 6:00 – 6:30 pm ~ SENIORS and JUNIORS
  • 6:30 – 7:00 pm ~ SOPHOMORES
  • 7:00 – 7:30 pm ~ 9th  & 8th GRADERS
  • 7:30 – 8:00 pm ~ 7th GRADERS 

 

If your son or daughter is planning to participate in any sports in the 2018-2019 school year, he or she must have a physical no earlier than June 1, 2018.  The physical will be good for the entire school year.  A completed PIAA Comprehensive Physical Form along with $10 (cash only) is required at the time of the physical.  The physical form can be downloaded from our Central Valley website or can be picked up in the High School or Middle School offices. If your child cannot make any of the two dates, they must get a physical from either your family doctor or any of the medical clinics around the area.  Please be aware that no one can receive a physical without the completed PIAA Comprehensive Physical- Revised March 22, 2017 (printed on bottom of form).

Please note that these are the ONLY two dates sports physicals will be offered by the district for the entire 2018 - 2019 school year.

Any student athlete, regardless, of what sport(s) he or she plays, should plan to attend.  Also, the PIAA Comprehensive Physical Form, Revised:  March 22, 2017 will be the only one accepted by the Central Valley School District.  IT MUST BE COMPLETED and

SIGNED BY THE STUDENT AND A PARENT.

No child will be seen by our doctor without the parent’s signatures.

CVHS SUMMER TENNIS CONDITIONING PROGRAM

SUMMER CONDITIONING PROGRAM
Central Valley HS Head Boys' and Girls' Tennis Coach Tim Casey has announced the summer conditioning schedule.   The program is open to any boy or girl who will be a student at Central Valley HS for the 2018 - 2019 school year and is interested in trying out for the boys' or girls' tennis team(s). The session site will be the Central Valley HS tennis courts. 

The conditioning program will include instruction in basic strokes, tennis drills, tennis play - singles and doubles. There is no charge for the instruction.  Beginning tennis players are welcome to attend.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Any boy or girl who will be in grades 9 through 12 in the fall is invited to attend on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's beginning June 11th and conclude Friday, August 10th from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. 
 
MIDDLE SCHOOL:  Any student who will be in 6th, 7th and 8th grade in the fall are invited to attend the program on Wednesday's, June 13th through August 8th from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm 

Tryouts for the girls' tennis team will begin on Monday, August 13th.  

Attendance at the program does not assure a position on the team.  A decision to not take part in the program does not mean that one will not be on the team roster.
 
CV Senior Brendan Jugan - WPIAL Scholar/Athlete
Congratulations to Central Valley senior Brendan Jugan for receiving
the 2018 WPIAL Jim Collins Scholar/Athlete Award.  The program's
goal is to recognize and to honor young men and women in their member
schools who excel in athletics, academics, and school/community service
involvement.  The award is sponsored and funded by the WPIAL Board
of Directors, WPIAL/JAMES COLLINS Scholarship Trust Fund, and 
Come Ready Nutrition Recipients of the awards were selected based on
three criteria: athletics 50%, academics 35%, and school/community service
15%.  Brendan was one of ten (10) male athletes and ten (10) female athletes
who were awarded $1,000.00 each, to attend the college of their choice.
During his time at Central Valley Brendan was a 4 year letterwinner in football,
boys' soccer and 3 years in baseball.  He is the son of David and Kim Jugan of
Center Township. 
 
The winners were honored at a luncheon held at the Double Tree in Greentree
on Monday, May 14th.  Brendan was accompanied by his parents David and Kim
Jugan, along with High School Principal Shawn McCreary and Athletic Director
Sam Cercone.
 
We wish Brendan all the best as he moves on to Penn State University this fall.

PLAYING AT THE NEXT LEVEL
Several members of the Central Valley HS senior class will playing their respective sports in college next year and to honor them a mock signing ceremony was held in the high school cafeteria on Thursday, April 19th.  Athletic Director Sam Cercone addressed the family, coaches and friends of the athletes who were in attendance, prior to the signing.  Refreshments were served.
