CV VOLLEYBALL - KELSEY DICKINSON NAMED 1ST TEAM ALL-STATE
Congratulations to Cental Valley senior Kelsey Dickinson for being named to the 2018 AAA PA Volleyball Coaches Association All-State First Team.  Kelsey was an outside hitter and four year letterwinner for head coach Kevin Hummert.  In 2018, she and her Lady Warriors teammates finished 3rd in the WPIAL-AAA, losing in the opening round of the PIAA playoffs to the eventual state champion Warren Dragons.  
 
Kelsey is the daughter of Matt Dickinson and Assistant Volleyball Coach Stephanie Dickinson Dunmeyer.  Her college plans are undecided.

Congratulations to Central Valley senior football player Anthony Mendicino (Wide Receiver/Safety) and junior Reed FitzSimmons (Offensive Guard/Linebacker) who are candidates for the Mr. Pennsylvania Football 2018 - AAA/AAAA. 

Mr. PA Football is chosen by football fans, sportswriters/ sportscasters, and coaches from around the state.  Fans will be able to nominate and vote for their favorite players, and the media panel from major media markets, as well as coaches from across the state will be voting for the outstanding player.  The fans, the media, and the coaches will each represent 1/3 of the vote.

Cast your vote at t http://mrpafootball.com and vote at 1A – 3 A to advance Anthony and Reed to the Tremendous Twenty-Five and see who is the best in the Keystone State!  Deadline for this round of voting is Thursday, December 20th.

Anthony is a three year letterwinner and Reed a two year letterwinner for the Warriors under head coach Mark Lyons.

 
 
CV LADY WARRIORS SENIORS NAMED TO ALL - WPIAL TEAMS
Congratulations to Central Valley Lady Warriors seniors who were recently named to the 2018 All-WPIAL Volleyball for AAA:
  • Kelsey Dickinson - 1st Team
  • Tatum LeDonne - 2nd Team
  • Samantha Yetsick - 3rd Team

The girls each had an outstanding high school career, lettering all four years under Head Coach Kevin Hummert.  This season the team finished third in the WPIAL playoffs and advanced to the PIAA playoffs.   

 
 
Tyler Martin ~ Positive Athlete Pittsburgh 2018-2019 Nominee

Congratulations to Central Valley senior Tyler Martin for being an official nominee in this year's Positive Athlete Pittsburgh program.  He is now eligible to win one of the Positive High School Athlete awards and scholarships developed for exceptional student-athletes in Western Pennsylvania.  Tyler is a four year member of the varsity football team, where he plays linebacker and tight end. As a captain this season, Tyler encourages the younger players to never give up.  He is also a member of the National Honor Society and is an Eagle Scout.  He has been in Cub/Boys Scouts for 12 years and has volunteered countless hours doing community service.
 
After graduation, Tyler plans to attend Youngstown State University and major in Geology. Tyler is the son of Lance and Jeannie Martin of Center Township. Best of luck Tyler in the Positive Athlete Pittsburgh competition; winners will be announced in May 2019. 
 
WPIAL SPORTSMANSHIP SUMMIT 2018

Student-athletes from more than 100 high schools in Western Pennsylvania attended the annual 10th annual WPIAL Sportsmanship Summit on Thursday, November 15th, at the Senator John Heinz History Center and Sports Museum in Pittsburgh.  Central Valley was represented by four outstanding student-athletes from the junior class - Sara Almasy, Kevin Kennelly, Emma Sudak and Dan Tanaskovic. They were selected based on their performance on the playing field, as well as their outstanding achievements in the classroom.

Former West Allegheny HS, University of Pittsburgh and professional football player Dorin Dickerson, former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Chris Hoke and Duquesne University athletic director Dave Harper addressed the audience to talk about how their actions and words matter with the hopes they can become role models for their teammates and younger athletes who look up to them.

Central Valley Athletic Director Sam Cercone accompanied the students to the summit.
