Central Valley Middle School Receives Schools to Watch Re-Designation

Dear Central Valley Community,

On the afternoon of December 9, our Central Valley Middle School received notice from the National Schools to Watch Director, Mr. Bruce Vosburg, that Central Valley Middle School has been recognized as a Don Eichhorn School to Watch Re-Designation 2 School.

This is our middle school’s third prestigious recognition. Our Central Valley Middle School received STW designation in 2015, received Re-Designation 1 in 2018, and our current Re-Designation 2 (2021).

The Schools to Watch (STW) process recognizes high performing middle schools through a rigorous and thorough application and evaluation process based on the following four criteria: Academic Excellence, Developmental Responsiveness, Social Equity, and Organizational Structures and Processes. A “Schools to Watch” designee must reapply every three years and show continual growth and school improvement by applying the best mid-level practices while pursuing future initiatives.

Congratulations, Central Valley Middle School staff, on your continued exemplary work in providing a remarkable program for our Central Valley community that focuses on educating the whole child! This holiday season, I would like everyone to take a moment and feel grateful for our roles in supporting the education of our middle school students. This past year has been trying on our parents, staff, and students. Education is a collaborative process. It is built on the foundations of trust, advocacy, communication, and our beliefs in supporting and educating students intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

We all play a part in this recognition. Congratulations to our CVSD community, staff, and students. A special thanks to our Superintendent, Dr. Nicholas Perry, and our CVSD Board of Education for their endless support of our middle school program. We would also like to extend a special thank you to our PTA, the Central Valley Education Foundation, the Beaver County Educational Trust, and the PAMLE organization for their continued support of our teachers in helping to provide meaningful professional development and educational opportunities.

Our CVMS STW celebratory quote: “It is said that it takes a village, and at CVMS we are that village filled with caring and dedicated teachers who foster building relationships while striving towards educational excellence.”
