Wicked Warriors Take 1st Place in Beaver County Cool School Challenge for the 5th Year in a Row
On Saturday, January 12th, 37 Wicked Warriors, took the frigid plunge into the Beaver River to show support for Beaver County Special Olympics. The Wicked Warriors took 1st place for the 5th year in a row in the “Cool Schools Challenge” earning a trophy and the honor of being the first school to take the plunge. The team, led by Captain Nicole Suhayda, is comprised of administrators, teachers, support staff, students, parents, and community members. This year, 5th grader Liam McKittrick, also joined the team and was freezing for a reason in support of his classmates and other individuals with disabilities.

A big thank you to the Central Valley Community for raising over $16,000 this year and over $77,000 throughout the past 7 years to support Special Olympics programming in Beaver County. Funds raised are used to sponsor programs such as high school unified sports teams, the annual Beaver County Track and Field event, and many other teams and individual events giving both youth and adults with disabilities their moment to shine. This is another example of our community making a difference and choosing to include. Thanks to all who have contributed to this event. Proud to be a Warrior!
