Good Afternoon Central Valley School Community,
Thank you again for your patience as we work through this unprecedented time in the history of public education. On a daily and sometimes hourly basis, new communication and direction continue to come into school districts from the Department of Education regarding requirements for delivery of instruction after the initial two-week shutdown. Obviously, the climate of the country changes every day. In the meantime, we will continue to follow direction from Governor Wolf, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, and the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit.
In addition, we are working with leadership from the Central Valley Education Association and the Central Valley Education Support Professionals to work through any labor questions related to the collective bargaining agreements for all of our employees and any impact on education and related services should this continue beyond two weeks.
We know that many questions will emerge in the days and weeks to come. We will work through those questions with collaboration among the previously identified organizations in a thoughtful manner. As of now, the schools will remain closed through March 29, 2020. This means that no teachers will report to work during the two-week mandated closure, and no instruction will be delivered. There are still unanswered questions regarding the 180-day requirement, and the use of continuity of education plans to deliver instruction should the mandatory closure be extended. Custodial and maintenance staff will continue to clean and disinfect all District facilities daily. Please take care of yourselves and your families during these uncertain times. We will continue to communicate new information as it becomes available.
