Todd Lane Elementary School received notification that we were selected as a Title I School of Distinction for 2018-2019 as a top performing school by the Pennsylvania Department of Education Division of Federal Programs.  The designation is based on high achievement and high progress by scoring in the highest 5% amongst Title I schools in English Language Arts (ELA) proficiency, Math PSSA proficiency, and the Pennsylvania Value-Added Assessment System (PVAAS) Growth.  Todd Lane will be recognized at the 2019 Title I Improving Schools' Performance Conference in Pittsburgh in January.  Also, Todd Lane is 1 of 158 selected school in the State that are eligible to be named as a National Title I School of Distinction in Kansas City in February.  Amy Abrams, Jennifer Unger, and Nikki Kondik are Title I teachers at Todd Lane Elementary School.

The middle school is in need of at least 6 parent volunteers for the entire school day on Friday, October 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  We have been graciously granted an all day Science Exhibit for our 8th grade students by Shell.  Reminder, that any volunteer must have their 3 clearances on file at our district's central office.  Please contact Principal Brian Dolph if you are able to volunteer or have any questions.

Monday and Tuesday, October 22 and 23, 2018
Heritage Hills GC, York PA
Congratulations to Central Valley senior Kiaira Porter who again qualified for the PIAA Girls' Golf Championships at Heritage Hills GC in York, PA on Monday and Tuesday, October 22nd and 23rd.  Kiaira shot an 88 in the WPIAL Individual Finals at Diamond Run Golf Course on October 3rd.  She will be accompanied to the state tournament by Head Coach Craig Morris and Assistant Coach David Bell. 
Kiaira and her Central Valley teammates will be trying to win another WPIAL Chamipionship trophy and qualify for the PIAA Team Championships on Thursday, October 11th, when they travel to Cedarbrook Golf Course to face Greensburg Central Catholic, Elizabeth Forward and Sewickley Academy.  Best of luck Lady Warriors!

Mr. Hulme and Ms. Weltner's classes took a field trip to the Heinz History Center on Monday, October 8th as a part of the HHC's "free-admission" RADical Days (Alleghey Regional Asset District).  Students were able to tour exhibitions featuring the Apollo 11 Mission, From Slavery to Freedom, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and many others.

Central Valley High School will participate in the 2018-19 KDKA/ Williams Hometown HighQ.  In the first round of the competition, CVHS's team, consisting of Jon Katherine, Cameron McCracken, and Jodi Patterson, will compete against Sewickley Academy and Penn-Trafford. The show will be aired on Tuesday, December 11th at 11am and on Saturday, December 15th at 11:30am.  [ for more]
