COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course offers an in-depth look at the concepts and theories associated with child development. Physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children and the factors that influence development are studied. The health and safety needs of children are examined as well. Students are required to take home the Baby Simulator for 1 weekend during the semester or complete a research assignment as an alternative. Units include: children and parenting, pregnancy and prenatal development, baby's first year, the child from 1 - 3, the child from 3 - 5, health and safety of children, the family, and family challenges.
