Title 1 - Federal Programs
Title I Federal Program Information
The ASAP program is supported by federal funds through Title I. Title I is the largest federal assistance program for our nation’s schools. The goal is to provide a high quality education for every child. The program provides extra help to students who need it most.
Districts receive Title I funds from the Federal Government through the Pennsylvania Department of Education and distribute the funds to schools based on the number of students eligible for free and reduced lunch. However, free and reduced lunch eligibility is only used to distribute funds. Students are selected to receive Title I services based on academic need.
Title I is supplemental reading and math instruction for students in K-5 who need extra support. Students receive “pull out” Tier II support services twice a week from the ASAP (Title I) team. In addition to Tier II time, students also receive weekly “push in” classroom support.
