6th Grade Tech. Ed.

This course is the entry level course of required Technology Education in the middle school program.  In this course students will learn to hand and power tool safety, measuring (linear and board foot calculation)  and material fabrication techniques which includes the use of sheet metal hand tools (foot shears, pan brake, and press), hand tools (hammer, screwdrivers, and tape measures), along with power tools such as the bandsaw, scroll saw, drill press, disc sander, spindle sander and palm sander. Additionally during this course we will discuss how wood is harvested (from the forest to the mill to the classroom) and various wood defects involved with woodworking.
